Use libnotify notifications (python-notify) #253

The yellow "speech bubble" notifications that I get don't really match the remainder of my environment. It should be possible to use the python-notify package to create libnotify-style notifications that show up in the desktop enviroment's style, be it Unity, Gnome, KDE, etc.

Should being the key word, of course, I've only ever used them for a single project in Unity, and I'm in Cinnamon now. If you're already using them or have already mentioned why you won't, I apologize for this unnecessary enhancement request thing.

Apart from Cinnamon, what does your platform look like (which OS/version)?

I'm currently running ubuntu 13.10.
