Merci pour le grand travail que vous faites pour la communauté. J'ai une remarque sur le découpage administrative du Maroc. Les régions que vous avez sur vos cartes sont de 16 régions et nombre de communes a changé aussi, alors que actuellement le Maroc compte seulement 12 régions. Proposed edit - overhaul all admin-1s, table with proposed values forthcoming. what would be an acceptable source for geometry here? who's on first also has 16 regions (https://spelunker.whosonfirst.org/id/85632693/descendants/?exclude=nullisland&placetype=region) and the shapefile i've linked here has use restrictions

Let's talk about this one in our weekly sync on Tuesday.

Generally you squint your eyes while looking at at least 3 sources (which hopefully more or less agree; if they disagree you need to research and form an opinion) and draw new original shapes. There's enough Natural Earth features here between the cultural and physical and raster themes as long as the new shapes are consistent with which towns should be in them and they follow ridge lines, rivers, and roads it should be fine.

OK, I'm moving my comment here instead of having a duplicate issue #750.

Morocco redrew its top-level subdivisions (the regions) in 2015 (see ISO 3166 for list https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/#iso:code:3166:MA). The new ISO region codes for Morocco's region are different, although at first glance at just the codes without the names it might be hard to tell.

As far as I can tell, ne_10m_states_provinces is still going by the old regions.

This is a case where GADM is still out of date. However, dropping down a level and looking at GADM's prefectures / provinces for Morocco might help in deriving some of the updates to Morocco's regions.
