An update on the map of the Republic of Latvia (Europe) #808

The current administrative division of Latvia came into force on 1 July 2021.

On 10 June 2020, the Saeima approved a municipal reform that would reduce the 110 municipalities and nine republic cities to 43 local government units consisting of 36 municipalities (novadi) and seven state cities (valstspilsētas, plural).

There is a new and updated map of Latvia that should be updated in other data bases.

Looks like source data are available from the Latvian Geospatial Information Agency under a CC0 license.

Admin1 boundary lines are found under Latvijas_Parskata_karte.gdb/LVA250/PolBndL

It looks like Natural Earth's public v6 alpha data still has the older boundaries and will need a special update. The details above should be sufficient to accomplish the update.

(below) Draft boundaries in v6-alpha look like they still have too many features:
