incidentally, it's pretty easy to work around since it comes into maya logically grouped - so you can literally go to 'stage' and reset transform manually within maya. It does mess up file referencing tho, having it be different each time.
The unity toolkit behaves this way, so I think we should do it for Alembic export too.
I'm working on a maya scene, and every time I export from animvr I have to remember to press 'reset stage transform' before exporting the scene or it ends up somewhere different every time I import it into maya - in contrast to the behaviour of maya/c4d/houdini etc where an exported file will never get transformed by the camera position. I guess it could be useful in some instances to know where the viewer was when they pressed export, but it's not repeatable, so it's definitely not something you want when you're working on multiple iterations of the same file. Perhaps a compromise would be to export the viewer's position as a camera, rather than transforming the geometry in the file? I don't need it but maybe somebody does :-)
