Documentation
Description of the equipment used provided by the requestor. Only the dimensions change, so they can be generalised:
SMALL TWIN FYKES: The twyn fykes consist of two conical structures formed by 7 plastic-coated metal rings and a 5 mm mesh net covering the structures. The entrance rings to the trap are semi-circular and 75 cm in diameter. The conical structures are positioned opposite each other, perpendicular to the flow of the current, and linked by a 6 m long mesh that cuts off the way of the fish and directs them towards the trap entrance. The funnel-shaped design makes it easy for the fish to enter and difficult for them to exit, trapping them in the net.
LARGE TWIN FYKES: Twyn fykes consist of two conical structures made up of 9 plastic-coated metal rings and a 5 mm mesh size netting cloth covering the structures. The trap entrance rings are semi-circular and 100 cm in diameter. The conical structures are positioned opposite each other, perpendicular to the flow of the current, and linked by a 7.5 m long mesh that cuts off the way of the fish and directs them towards the trap entrance. The funnel-shaped design makes it easy for fish to enter and difficult for them to exit and get caught in the net.
