👍 This seems to tie in nicely with this issue: https://github.com/nvs-vocabs/S11/issues/14

Hi,

I was wondering if @gwemon you have an update on the status of these life stage vocabularies? And perhaps, in addition, also on the life stages posted here: https://github.com/nvs-vocabs/S11/issues/14 ?

Thanks & have a great weekend!

Hey,

I am wondering if it is interesting to reuse the definitions that are already established in traits from WoRMS species information backbone?

For instance, veliger

Veliger: A free-swimming molluscan larva, characterized by lobed extensions of the peroral trochus (velum), larval shell and rudimentary foot (Stachowitsch, 1992).

References: Stachowitsch, M., 1992. The invertebrates: an illustrated glossary. Chichester: John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Definition specific to Mollusca

OBIS uses WoRMS taxonomic backbone and the traits are linked to the WoRMS taxonomic backbone. If the same vocabs are used, users could compare the values of the specific trait (e.g. lifeStage) from their samples and the curated values provided by expert in WoRMS backbone. What do you think?

@mknottingham @timvdstap apologies for lack of action on this. @ymgan thank you for your suggestion. Yes we will align definitions to WoRMS traits vocabularies when appropriate and established mapping links between concepts in S11 and WoRMS traits whenever possible. I am hoping to be able to take this forward next week.

Thanks @ymgan that's a great suggestion!
