Fishing Gear Type Request #9

Open mknottingham opened 3 years ago

Hi, I was hoping we could add a few more Fishing gear types to the vocab list

**PrefLabel: gillnet Definition: Salmon gill nets are rectangular nets that hang in the water and are set from either the stern or bow of the vessel. Fish swim headfirst into the net, entangling their gills in the mesh. Mapping to other terminologies: http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/M12/current/3/ -- PrefLabel: troll
Definition: Trollers employ hooks and lines which are suspended from large poles extending from the fishing vessel. Mapping to other terminologies: http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/M12/current/3/

Thank-you

Hello @mknottingham, Would this code fit your requirement: http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/L05/current/65/

Hello @gwemon, @mknottingham asked me to have a quick look at these.

I think http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/L05/current/65/ is a suitable definition for gill net.

Troll remains undefined in the NVS, though, and it differs from the "lines" definition in that trollers tow their lines and hooks through the water as the vessel fishes. The definition for "lines" states that these vessels fish "using static hooks and lines." (http://vocab.nerc.ac.uk/collection/M13/current/014/)
