To remodel our pH parameters to the new PUV semantic model, we need to create several new S06 terms for the various pH scales, as follows:

Preferred label - pH (total scale) Description - A measure of acidity based on the free proton (hydrogen ion) concentration plus hydrogen sulfate ion concentration.

Preferred label - pH (free scale) Description - A measure of acidity based on the free proton (hydrogen ion) concentration.

Preferred label - pH (seawater scale) Description - A measure of acidity based on the free proton (hydrogen ion) concentration plus hydrogen sulfate ion concentration plus fluoride ion concentration.

Preferred label - pH (NBS scale) Description - A measure of acidity based on the National Bureau of Standards' operational pH scale which denotes the negative of the common logarithm of the free proton (hydrogen ion) activity, -log ag.

The above terms have now been loaded to S06 and will be live on the NVS from 0730 UTC tomorrow morning.

We also have a need for a pH term where the scale used is either unknown or unspecified.

We are proposing the following: Preferred label - pH (unspecified scale) Description - A measure of acidity where the scale is either unknown or not specified.
