How is the value of alpha fixed? #5

We know that it is <<1

we currently have it modelled as a random number between 0 - 1

By "magic" :)

More seriously, as we discussed, all we really know about alpha from the theoretical point of view is that alpha < 1. On top of this, observations suggest that typically 0.01 < alpha < 0.1 in astrophysical accretion disk. So -- at least for the moment -- just assume it's a constant that you can set in the model.

Cheers,

C
