Selecting a message in unread view causes a 'domino effect' of messages being marked read #2271

Open Pete5x5 opened 8 years ago

Pete5x5 commented 8 years ago

Bug: In unread view if you click on a message it causes all messages above it to be marked read. Starting with the one clicked, all above messages are selected one by one, marked as read, and then the next one is selected.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. In Preferences -> General, change 'When reading messages, mark as read:' to 'Instantly' (not sure if this is necessary; the issue persists intermittently even when I set this value longer).
  2. Have some unread messages in a Gmail account
  3. Go to the unread view.
  4. Click on the bottom (oldest) message.

Expected Result: The message is opened, marked read, and you can continue reading that message. The original message stays selected.

Actual result: The message is opened, marked read, and then quickly the next message is selected and the process is repeated.

pugson commented 7 years ago

@jackiehluo Any development on this? It's been almost 9 months.

Pete5x5 commented 7 years ago

...I only have 3 gmail accounts attached to Nylas Mail.

This issue has been present for me from the beginning of using Nylas N1, and has persisted into the Nylas Mail upgrade. It's incredibly annoying, I'm looking forward to finding a solution.

Only seems to happen on GMail, I also have iCloud and a CPanel based IMAP account added and they don't have the same problem.
