Nylas Pro: Composer typing is slow #3275

nylas pro 1.5.0 macos 10.12.3

There's a visible input lag when composing a message in a separate window (and probably without it). Removing/typing characters basically. Could you test this? For example https://pavelfatin.com/typing-with-pleasure/

@light2yellow thanks for the report. This has actually been fixed in Nylas Mail! (v 1.0.*)

Great! Unfortunately, Nylas Mail is not stable enough for everyday usage so far. Moreover, I would like to actually use the cloud storage after paying for it :)

I have had a "slow" composer issue from day one with Nylas. Typing within the main program window was always slow, but sometimes I could get a normal typing speed by popping the compose windows into a new window.

I discovered today that the actual issue has to do with the number of contacts I have in my Gmail/GSuite account. I had over 10,000 contacts, and it appears that Nylas was attempting to keep all of them in memory while the composer window was open. I deleted most of the contacts and that has resolved the issue for me.

Note to developers: this may be something you only want to load when the to/cc/bcc windows are clicked/active, to avoid this problem for people with many many contacts.

@meritweb lazy loading is definitely a good concern, however a have only a few contacts.

FYI, Nylas guys, I've switched to Thunderbird on all machines despite having a year subscription. Unfortunately for me and for you. cya
