Feature request: Option to disable hardware acceleration #3437

What operating system are you using?

Ubuntu 16.04.2

What version of Nylas Mail are you using?

Nylas Mail 2.0.15

Do you have any third-party plugins installed? If so, which ones?

I have some themes installed but it is the same behavior without them.

Is the issue related to a specific email provider (Gmail, Exchange, etc.)?

No.

Is the issue reproducible with a particular attachment, message, signature, etc?

No.

Does this feature exist in another mail client or tool you use?

No.

There is an annoying flickering on Ubuntu which is a well known problem for Google Chrome. The fix is to disable hardware acceleration.

As Nylas Mail is built with electron then the solution should be the same but there is no option in Nylas Mail to disable hardware acceleration. Maybe you can add it ?

I have this exact same problem. It is really annoying, and I am not sure but I feel like this is draining my battery too.

I've just installed Nylas Mail for the first time and experience the same flickering issue. I'm on a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04. +1 to have this issue looked into!
