I'm having this issue as well on MacOS 10.12.5 Beta. Restarting Nylas typically solves the issue, but until then, I receive an "SMTP authentication invalid" error when sending.
I have the same issue macOS 10.12.4. (I did update the client yesterday... not sure if that would have anything to do with it). Confirming that restarting the client temporarily resolves the issue (I've had to restart several times so far today).
Just got an update notification that appears to fix this issue.
Are there any related issues?
There was one somewhat related issue in that we're getting the same error message, but the steps to reproduce are very different. #47

The issue seems to occur with any email sent, regardless of recipient domain or message content.
This app had been working fine for weeks and this just started happening with my connected Google Accounts. I tried hitting the "Re-Authenticate with Google" button in preferences under Accounts, and doing that combined with a full restart seemed to fix it for a little while. I can't help but notice that this has, for me, coincided with the launch of Google's new Sign-In page; any possible connection there?
