Option for No Authentication in SMTP #3515

Open jamesdube opened 7 years ago

jamesdube commented 7 years ago

My organisation uses Exchange server which is currently not supported, but I can also use IMAP/SMTP . Currently nylas requires that i enter in SMTP credentials (username and password) and the "connect account" button is disabled if I don't enter them which in turn means i cannot connect to our server because i have to specify No Authentication on the smtp details. I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 and nylas 2.0

+1 Same for me. If user is successfully authenticated via POP3 / IMAP, we allow SMTP for his IP for next 30 minutes, credentials for SMTP are not required.

Hey folks—Nylas Mail is no longer maintained, but this has been fixed in https://github.com/Foundry376/Mailspring/commit/e4d61462edf086e64a309a36321ef9bcfc8f464f on the Mailspring fork. You can connect to SMTP without auth and also on custom ports.

Hi, mailspring looks nice, but I am getting the same error: "Authentication Error - Check your username and password. (SMTP)". (server is correct, port is correct security setting is correct, username + pw are left open)
