Download Speed #153

I've recently moved from sabnzbd to nzbget v 22. I've got everything set up and it all seems to working very well. However, I'm seeing very slow download speeds compared to sabnzbd. With sabnzbd I usually get a speed of approx 25 mbps. With nzbget I'm lucky to get 6-8 mbps. The only seetings I see for speed (Download Rate) is set at 0, which should indicate no spped control.

Is this normal for nzbGet? How do I improve it?

luckedea commented 7 months ago

@mitchmiller Absolutely not normal. With our testing on all platforms results are on par with Sab.

Can you tell us which platform you are using? Most importantly - can you review "Number of connections" and try increasing it? https://nzbget.com/documentation/performance-tips/

mitchmiller commented 7 months ago

I'm on a Windows 64 platform. I've tried several connections 1, 2, 8, 10. I had 10 connections to my server with Sabnzbd.

I've sent you a couple of screen caps so you can see what I'm talking about. I downloaded the exact same file in both Sab and nzbGet.

@mitchmiller Thank you for update. Setting connections to 30 maxes my channel easily.

We have a configuration setting "chunk size" which is available in testing builds and v23 which is coming up in a few days. Is it possible you have somewhat slower disk performance on the download folder?

We are definitely going to be addressing any performance issues for v24, including an easier troubleshooting system for cases like yours.

If there is no secret, @mitchmiller could provide file and server, so it would be easier to checkout and implement solution. As you may know, to fix something, devs need to repeat problem on their side. That is why asked detailed information and repetitive steps.
