It seems the current mesh addressing for destinations outside the MBSS just "happens to work". Try the following:
mesh1 --- (mesh0 bridge w/ eth0) --- eth1
turn on gate announcements on mesh0 (or don't?) ping eth1 from mesh1
observe throughput and protocol behavior in a capture. The mesh1 mpath table should contain an entry for eth1 with mesh0 as nexthop.
