Open ahadas opened 2 years ago

ahadas commented 2 years ago

oVirt 4.5.0 was shipped with CentOS Pacific as Quincy was not yet released at feature freeze.

Quincy release candidate shipped[1] a few days ago and will GA soon probably in April 2022 Opening this RFE to track rebase on Quincy for next release cycles.

According to https://docs.ceph.com/en/quincy/releases/index.html Pacific has estimated EOL on 2023-06-01 which is about in a year.

@amoralej is cinderlib shipped with RDO Yoga compatible with Ceph Quincy?

amoralej commented 2 years ago

Ceph quincy has not yet being tested with OpenStack cinder or cinderlib so we are not sure about compatibility status. The feedback from OpenStack team is:

"in theory quincy should work because from a pure ceph perspective is a pacific extension but worth to test".

Also, from cinderlib point of view, note that cinderlib maintainers are still working on a new yoga release. We are currently shipping the Xena version of the package in RDO Yoga. I'm not sure if that has an impact on compatibility with Ceph Quincy. @Akrog may have more details on that.

@sandrobonazzola @amoralej let's run the Ceph related master (TripleO) scenarios w/ Quincy [1] and double check.

We'll be releasing cinderlib's Yoga version soon, as the deadline is Jun 20 - Jun 24.

The cinderlib Ceph CI job is testing against Ceph latest-luminous (it's probably time to update it), so I have locally run the cinderlib functional tests against a latest-quincy demo Ceph cluster and all tests passed successfully.

Though I have detected some issues when the keyring file is not stored in the /etc/ceph directory and I'll have to work on it. Don't know if this affects oVirt or not.
