I am in the process of rewrite. But it will take time. My work takes most of my time for a while now, so I am not able to spend more time on this.
Uhmm HYPE!! I really really like this program but it's not quite there for my "production" server so I've been stuck with FMD2 for now, but I'll probably replace once rework is done 👀👀

@oae can you post some updates sometimes to let us know that its is still being worked upon mayby branch with experimental not working v2?
I'm very interested in getting this as a working project, do you have any kind of funding (buymeacoffee etc etc) that we users that want it to live on can support you with ?
@atxbyea I started a new backend a few months ago that uses Hakuneko plugins. It is called Shinigami. You can find it in here. It is not complete yet. I will keep working on it whenever I have time. I am moving away from Mangal in favor of Shinigami. Kaizoku will use it in the future with several other features (for example auto renaming, and auto upscaling).
I appreciate your consideration. You can support me at https://github.com/sponsors/oae
Any updates?
I just found this and in big need of something like this to manage my manga library. I primarily use Unraid so would this be available to use on that platform? Thank you and keep up the good work.
Will there be Usenet support in the near future?
Will there be Usenet support in the near future?
this should be new issue/feature request
Hype
Upcoming version: kaizoku.mp4
Wow, that looks super amazing! Will there be a way to add backup-sources in case a primary source doesn't have a given chapter? (you see that a lot on Mangadex)
Additionally, will it be possible to add volume numbers to chapters that don't come with the chapter mentioned?
And I'm really intrigued by those animated covers, idk even if Kavita supports them, but I want them (where available) haha!
first of all great work and thank you
will it migrate automatically to the new database format? will we have to move everything manually? login screen so that means multi user support? when you think this will be available?
too many questions :P
Saw the new version and i'm hyped about it!
I just stumbled on the current version and have issues setting up the download folder.
I am always being forced to point my downloads (on kaizoku) to /mnt/media/Kavita/manga name but my Kavita is pointing to /mnt/media/Kavita/Manga --> forced to create the Manga folder in my Kavita folder.
I want to change the download on my Kaizoku to /mnt/media/Kavita/Manga/manga name but it's greyed out. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance!

Not sure if I understood your problem correctly, but you MAY need to switch your Add/Edit Container view to advanced mode. The toggle is in the top right of the page.
can you move this discussion to new issue?
Upcoming version:
kaizoku.mp4
Looks absolutely awesome, btw are you planning to have some sort of API in there? Something like Sonarr or Radarr if you know.

This looks really cool, but its been 2 months without any info about this. While i love the work you put into the rework, i think i speak for everyone when i say that a little more updates would be cool. Putting the project to github so we can follow the progress and help you would be really good.
Hello ? Any news ? THanks
To be quite honest i hate this oae guy (but i love this project), he drops some new info and then dips for multiple months, no updates, no nothing. I switched to Tranga and i can only recommend anyone else here doing that too, since even if V2 drops, the next updates might be coming multiple months later looking at oae`s history.

Maybe in another 8 months
Heaven forbid that people have lives, jobs, or other commitments other than developing an application for strangers on the internet for free.
Having a live or anything else, doesnt stop you from posting an update on your project from time to time or putting it on github so people see the progress. Sorry but how are people this oblivious / stupid ?
I switched to Tranga…
thx for Tranga
From the comment that you deleted. "Respectful"
And yes, it can stop you. You have absolutely no idea what they could be going through, there are thousands of reasons that someone could not have the time, energy, motivation, or energy to post an update about a hobby project online. Maybe they're in the hospital, maybe they had a relative die, maybe they're having a lot of work to do, maybe they just ran into an issue that they haven't been able to fix and haven't gotten around to figuring out what to do about it. You have no idea, and any of those reasons are valid ones for someone to not post any updates, on a hobby project, that they work on for free, to respond to strangers online (while they do have some sponsors, a) you are not one of them, and b) I doubt that it does more than pay for beer money, but this is an assumption that I am making)
There's also the fact that this is the internet, and people vanish all the time, and come back all the time. Just like... relax.
You have 3 (4) comments in this thread, and all of them are rather rude. I understand that you seem to be upset, but you have to realize that yelling at people or berating them is not going to get you any results that you want? You could have just said "If people are looking for an alternative, you can see XYZ".
Looking at your history, you have a 2-week old account, one repo, that has 24 commits that are updating the Readme. Why should anyone listen to you about how to update a project or to respond to people asking for stuff?
I'm not really interested in getting into a fight, though, so that's the last that I'm going to say on this matter. Have a good one.

If you're just going to bitch and moan this much why still come back to this project? Respectfully just fuck off?

no problem mate, i hope you enjoy the software :) Ignore the asshurt people here that cant stand someone not accepting the ridicilous times this guy takes for updates.

Honestly just to look if its still dead, and its now 14 months after i checked it out originally and its still not updated and the v2 was a comment on an issue 8 months later, this project is hopeless with this dev.

My point still stands and youre talking a bunch of madeup garbage to make your point sound better, wouldnt surprise me if an AI wrote that for you by the amount of text, honestly kind of funny.
This is an open source project. Anyone is free to fork it and work on it. I started this project for my own needs and lately I am busy with personal matters. If there were any updates, i would have posted it.

No one here is asshurt dude. Ive actually been using tranga for a while now but still want to follow this project. Its people like you to the T who just bug the hell out of everyone, moaning about blah blah blah this projects dead, wah wah wah, this dev is useless because they have a life, cry cry cry. If people want to wait for the dev's work, why do you feel the strong need to constantly put the dev and others down for waiting on progress. Just use a different software and leave? Like pushing the button on a elevator more, you complaining doesn't speed up development any faster.
I was really excited with kaizoku first released - but due to its known issue ended up moving away. So i'm looking forward to the v2 if it eventually comes out. I was considering writing my own but when oae dropped the video i was like 'looks great - will wait' =)
I wrote a post-script for fmd2 to renaming/moving/poking kavita/etc - so i'm perfectly happy waiting for v2.

Is there any way for us to help the development of v2? Is there a branch here with the amazing changes you showcased earlier in this chat? I'll happily try to help :)
Making open source free programs is a thankless task. I rely on this program for my manga server that I use every day. Threw a small sponsorship of what I could spare your way to say thanks for the value I have gotten out of this since it launched!
Upcoming version:

Looking forward to this, thought the project was not getting maintained anymore.
Thanks for your work !
is it abandoned? i really like it but i don't know should i start looking for something to replace it
