Nightcode's layout and UI is very welcoming in its simplicity (both major releases). I've been ruined in terms of attempting to use other IDEs for clojure already by how easy it is to import a Leiningen project, launch a REPL and play around. Having said that, here are some things I've noticed about 2.0.0 that make it feel a bit less friendly (to me) than 1.3.2. It might be worth noting that I'm a little colorblind, and these are all in terms of the dark theme (I don't use light themes if I can get away with it, so I'm hesitant to provide feedback on that):
The background color in the project/editor/REPL panes is very close to the grid separator color, which means that the various areas are blending together and making it hard for me to differentiate between them. There's much more contrast in 1.3.2, although 2.0.0's thinner grid separators feel cleaner and slicker. My suggestion would be to darken the background color inside the panes.
Similarly, the button color feels very close to the background toolbar color, so the edges are less clear and they seem harder for my eyes to pick out than in 1.3.2.
The project tree pane's alternating line colors in 1.3.2 help to differentiate it from the editable areas. I find the brightness of them compared to the editor background a little jarring in the old version, but the tree in 2.0.0 looks perhaps a little too similar to the editor/REPL, in my opinion.
The gutter line numbers are more subdued in 1.3.2, their brightness in 2.0.0 is pulling my eyes away from the code.
The Find box isn't obviously for that purpose without the prompt text, but I imagine more users will access it instinctively via ctrl+F than directly.
I find it ambiguous whether uppercase 'S' over a button means I need to press ctrl+S or ctrl+shift+S. The 'shift S' prompts in 1.3.2 were more obvious, but I appreciate that it takes up a lot more room than the new labels, and that the buttons in 2.0.0 are thinner in general.
