Examples updates

• remove jQuery from examples
• some preemptive changes addressing "standardjs" linting errors
  • ex: closing brace } before else blocks
• finish the lint-examples script
  • add lint-examples to package.json

NOTE:

I didn't run the linter in this PR, but when it is run, there are a bunch of CRLF => LF changes which will show up in diff (actually, some showed up already, but the first linting will almost look like a full file edit for most examples files)
