Sigil crashes when I select "open"

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Sigil
2. Click the "Open" icon or try to open a file from the drop-down menu
3. Sigil crashes & I get an error report.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I am trying to open an existing file I'd created in Sigil, but it crashes as 
soon as I click the Open button. 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Most recent build for Mac OS - I'm on OSX 10.8.5 (MacBook Air)

Please provide any additional information below. If your source file is
required to fully understand the problem, please attach it to this issue.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Sigil, but I don't think it ever 
really uninstalls. No source file applies to this issue because the application 
crashes before ever opening or attempting to open anything.
