I am still working on figuring out all the features of the Github. I do think the main challenge for me is changing the mindset of uploading all the works done (unfinished, drafts, etc) to the public. I did not get use to this feature. Usually, people tend to show their final, best products to the public. Nonetheless, I appreciate this feature as it enforces the collaborative learning process Given that, one of the beneficial features is the "Issue" feature itself. Whenever I encounter an issue, I post it. A few minutes later, I get answers and suggestions from different people who I don't even know, which is a fabulous thing.
The other one is Git being decentralized which makes it more effective to work collaboratively over the same document without having to check what changes were made or without naming the same document thousand times.
