This website is an effective tool for analyzing transportation in the Roman Empire. For instance, I was able to compare the cheapest and the fastest winter route from London to Jerusalem in the route section, and then do the same for the flow section. The flow section revealed that the vast majority of travelers were taking the cheapest option, as opposed to the fastest option. I could also see the modes of transport used along the way, as well as a price breakdown for 3 types of cargo. This could be used to characterize the socioeconomic classes and priorities of travelers along various routes in the Roman Empire.

The website was also fairly easy to navigate and learn how to use, despite the complexity of the information being presented. The initial tutorial was a good reference, and could be brought back as a pop-up without affecting the progress of the page underneath. The menus and search forms were clearly labeled, and the results were easy to see due to their effective layout below the map. However, two potential improvements stood out: for one, when highlighting sections of the journey in the results section, I was unable to highlight the corresponding cities on the map; the other issue I ran into was undoing an addition to the map without clearing everything entirely. With these features added, the website would be even better.
