This was a really interesting site! As someone fascinated by Ancient Rome, I particularly enjoyed exploring the information and maps. I played around much too long! My first impression was of the pop up box—how clever! By making the introduction (with additional tabs for further details, of course) a pop up, the creators basically force users to at least glimpse at the introduction and site summary before accessing the map and data. This is really effective because it forces visits to pause for a moment, in order to ensure they understand the site and how to use it.

I did first open Orbis over my phone to glance it over and get an idea for what it was, before realizing that I would need to use my computer because it is not very mobile friendly. I could tell that it was designed to adapt to different screen sizes and shapes, but the toggling and various tabs, as well as scrolling, did not seem to work very well on my phone. This is something I think is very important to consider in a world that is increasingly mobile.
