5 years ago This looks good overall, but maybe a more barebone definition like definition: A DNA sequencing assay that intends to provide information on the DNA sequences of multiple genomes (a metagenome) from different organisms present in the same input sample.
This definition avoids 'microbial community' and 'living together', which might not be applicable for all cases (e.g. I don't think people would refer to a metagenome sequencing of assays of an amputated arm of a sepsis patient to those microbes as 'living together' in the patient (who might live for much longer)?
