I'm having some worries about this - particularly the use of roles, which are tied to processes. Current definition of solute role: solute role is a role played by a chemical entity which is dissolved by another chemical entity (the solvent) when creating a solution
By this definition, chemical solution should be the output of a process which realizes the solute role that inheres in one scattered aggregate part.
(sim. solvent)

If there's specific proposal, please reopen.
chemical solution def reads "A material entity that is made up of at least 2 scattered molecular aggregates, one playing the role of solvent and the other one playing the role of solute." I think that would cover more than what we intend (i.e. buffers): blood serum may fall under there (http://tinyurl.com/yemccw7, measuring proteins in blood serum)
