chromatography column children #490

Open obi-bot opened 14 years ago

obi-bot commented 14 years ago

Hi, there are a number of children of 'processed material' that could be made children of 'chromatography column'. Namely:

packed column organic acid column protein column normal phase column rapid resolution column capillary column reversed phase column chromatofocusing column trap column affinity column ion exchange column spin column high temperature column plunger column liquid chromatography column open tubular column glass column size exclusion column custom made column gel permeation column carbon nanotube column

Thanks, Melissa

Agree; also passed this by an experimentalist who does nothing else. This should clean up the hierarchy significantly.

we can classify under 3 subclasses: column by chemical properties of packing material(carbon nanotube, glass) column by separation process (size exclusion, affinity, ion exchange, gel permeation, chromatofocusing, rapid resolution) column by 'targeted' material (protein column, organic acid column)

Validation of this proposal would require access to definitions though.

I moved them as suggested by melissa. Further ordering as Philippe proposes is desirable, and works as proposed, but also a lot more work. Given that the whole instrument branch is a mess, I would rather do the higher level cleanup of this first. Will leave it open, but reduce priority.
