The top comment on the LuLu Hacker News post suggested this and would increase the ease of use for many people. Instead of looking up certain IPs, we could trust lists of IPs curated by people/communities we deem trustworthy.

I would have a very hard time trusting any such list. Vetting the contributors would be a monumental task.

If the list is a black-list and not a white-list the misuse options are reduced quite a bit.
