>CL:0000252 microspore [SYNONYM: "pollen" (related)]
not really
>CL:0000252 microspore [SYNONYM: "pollen" (related)] >I think CL is correct here, pollen is only a weak synonym of microspore, as >the pollen (grain) is an aggregate of cells including the generative cell >(as I understand). Look at the definition http://www.plantontology.org/amigo/go.cgi?view=details&search\_constraint=terms&depth=0&query=PO:0020091 Male gametophyte PO:0020091 (syn: pollen) is formed by vegetative growth of the microspore. So a develops from relationship between ---microspore ---[d]--male gametphyte [syn: pollen]
>GO:0048235 pollen sperm cell differentiation [DEF: "The process whereby a >relatively unspecialized cell acquires specialized features of a haploid >sperm cell within the plant gametophyte."]
If you look at PO Sperm cell http://www.plantontology.org/amigo/go.cgi?open\_0=PO:0000084&open\_1=all It will tell that how this cell develops. That is more accurate a definition.
The proper definition for GO process term 'GO:0048235 pollen sperm cell differentiation' might be:
The process whereby the generative cell (PO0020097) present in the male gametophyte (PO:0020091, pollen) that divides to produce two male gametes or sperm cells.
Probably the definition needs to be fixed in accordance with another GO term GO:0055047 generative cell mitosis.
>Should "pollen sperm cell" be a synonym (exact?) of CL:0000252 microspore?
No. Look at the http://www.plantontology.org/amigo/go.cgi?view=details&search\_constraint=terms&depth=0&query=PO:0020091 PO:0000084 : sperm cell is PART_OF PO:0020091 : male gametophyte (syn: pollen)
>Note that PO (who must be the authorities in this matter) have:
>PO:0020091 male gametophyte [SYNONYM: "microgametophyte" ()] [SYNONYM: >"pollen" ()] [SYNONYM: "pollen grain" ()] [DEF: "A plant body or cell >lineage formed by vegetative growth of the microspore, producing male >gametes."]
right! in CL all the plant cell terms and their relationships within the context of plant cell must be imported from PO. This will avoid any inconsistencies.

CL:0000513 cardiac muscle myoblast [SYNONYM: "cardioblast" (related)] changed to exact synonym
CL:0000295 somatotropin secreting cell [SYNONYM: "growth hormone secreting cell" (related)] changed to exact synonym
CL:0000233 platelet [SYNONYM: "thrombocyte" (related)] [SYNONYM: "blood platelet" (exact)] removed thrombocyte, as this is a different CL term (CL:0000762)
Alignment with PO is upcoming so will ignore spore terms for now.
CL:0000822 B-2 B cell [SYNONYM: "follicular B cell" (related)] follicular B cell is now its own term in CL, and its inferred to be a type of B-2 B cell (cool!). Thus I removed the synonym.

It's important for GO not to use related synonyms when refering to CL - exact synonyms or same names are prefered
CL:0000513 cardiac muscle myoblast [SYNONYM: "cardioblast" (related)]
GO refers to cardioblast in many terms. Should GO use the more specific approved term, or should CL make this an exact synonym?
CL:0000295 somatotropin secreting cell [SYNONYM: "growth hormone secreting cell" (related)]
Is somatotropin considered an exact or related syn? Or is somatotropin a kind of GH? GO uses somatotropin secreting cell development, so we are consistent, but elsewhere GO talks of growth hormones...
CL:0000233 platelet [SYNONYM: "thrombocyte" (related)] [SYNONYM: "blood platelet" (exact)] GO uses thrombocyte differentiation
CL:0000252 microspore [SYNONYM: "pollen" (related)]
CL:0000252 microspore [SYNONYM: "pollen" (related)] I think CL is correct here, pollen is only a weak synonym of microspore, as the pollen (grain) is an aggregate of cells including the generative cell (as I understand). When GO uses the term pollen, as in pollen development, it means it in the sense of the 2+ celled grain. GO does have:
GO:0048235 pollen sperm cell differentiation [DEF: "The process whereby a relatively unspecialized cell acquires specialized features of a haploid sperm cell within the plant gametophyte."]
Should "pollen sperm cell" be a synonym (exact?) of CL:0000252 microspore?
Note that PO (who must be the authorities in this matter) have:
PO:0020091 male gametophyte [SYNONYM: "microgametophyte" ()] [SYNONYM: "pollen" ()] [SYNONYM: "pollen grain" ()] [DEF: "A plant body or cell lineage formed by vegetative growth of the microspore, producing male gametes."]
CL:0000822 B-2 B cell [SYNONYM: "follicular B cell" (related)]
GO has: follicular B cell differentiation
should "follicular B cell" be an exact synonym in CL, or should GO switch to the prefered term?
