granulocyte CL:0000094 logical definition #441

Open cerivs opened 8 years ago

cerivs commented 8 years ago

and ('has plasma membrane part' some 'urokinase plasminogen activator surface receptor')
The mechanism is different in teleost so this is not a true statement PMID 22733817

and ('has plasma membrane part' some 'carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 8') Protein/gene has not been identified in zebrafish.

@addiehl The logical definition of granulocyte CL:0000094 seems quite stringent:

'myeloid leukocyte' and ('has part' some 'secretory granule') and ('has plasma membrane part' some 'integrin alpha-M') and ('has plasma membrane part' some 'carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 8') and ('has plasma membrane part' some 'urokinase plasminogen activator surface receptor') and ('capable of' some 'blood circulation') and (lacks_plasma_membrane_part some 'CD19 molecule') and (lacks_plasma_membrane_part some 'CD3 epsilon') and (lacks_plasma_membrane_part some 'neural cell adhesion molecule 1') and (lacks_plasma_membrane_part some 'T-cell surface glycoprotein CD8 alpha chain')

If the term as is was meant for human/mammals, we should add a taxon constraint and clarify in label/def. If so, is a broader class needed that's applicable to fish too?

The granulocytes in general need a major curation effort. I have been thinking about this for awhile, but it would be a serious commitment of time, so I have not started yet.

cerivs commented 3 years ago

We still need a generic granulocyte grouping class to accommodate the differences in fish.
