Preferred term label:

Shahrzad and Noemi, I added a term for Hip joint contracture with def: Lack of full passive range of motion (restrictions in flexion, extension, or other movements) of the hip joint resulting from structural changes of non-bony tissues, such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, joint capsules and/or skin.

Could you please provide definitions for

Hip extension contracture Hip flexion contracture Hip internal rotation contracture Hip external rotation contracture Hip abduction contracture Hip adduction contracture

Hip internal rotation contracture==> synonym to “Lack of external Rotation of hip”. Definition= Turning the knee from a neutral position to one facing more the midline, where the neutral position for the hip is with knee pointing directly anteriorly. (less than or equal to 45 degrees). Hip external rotation contracture==> synonym to “Lack of External Rotation of Hip”. Definition= Turning the knee past neutral in the direction moving away from the midline, where the neutral position for the hip is with knee pointing directly anteriorly. Hip abduction contracture==>synonym to “Lack of Adduction of hip”. Definition= Inability of hip to bring from lateral to neutral position, where the neutral position for the hip is with the thigh segment in line with the anatomic plane of the pelvis, both in the coronal and sagittal planes. Hip adduction contracture==>synonym to “Lack of Abduction of hip”. Definition= Inability of hip to bring from medial side to neutral position, where the neutral position for the hip is with the thigh segment in line with the anatomic plane of the pelvis, both in the coronal and sagittal planes. Hip extension contracture==>Inability to flex the hip past the extension range from the neutral position, where the neutral position for the hip is with the hip and thigh segment in line in the same coronal plane as the pelvis.
Hip flexion contracture==>The inability to bring a flexed hip to neutral in the sagittal plane, where the neutral position for the hip is with the thigh segment in line with the anatomic plane of the pelvis, both in the coronal and sagittal planes.

@shahrzadnema we still need better definitions for these terms! Can we touch bases?
