It appears that these MA:0002234 ! testicular vein and MA:0002218 ! spermatic vein should be merged. I will follow up on this as soon as I can.

I have been unable to find a definitive answer to this question.

Ignoring for the time being the left vs. right distinction, I can find numerous use cases (in human, mostly radiological) for: testicular vein (synonym “internal spermatic vein” OR used in a more general way as “testicular veins”), spermatic vein (without further distinction but most likely refering to the internal spermatic vein) , internal spermatic vein , external spermatic vein (possibly a synonym for cremasteric vein), and deep spermatic vein

I am inclined to think that (for the most part, at least for the mouse) testicular vein (MA:0002234), spermatic vein (MA:0002218) and internal spermatic vein (MA:0002149) can be merged, with the latter being the prefered label. (Description in a clinical paper: http://www.springerlink.com/content/l5720626112l58lj/)

That said, it is disturbing how many examples there are of papers in which the authors use two or more of these terms without specifying that they are synonyms (see, for example: http://www.ectsia.org/radac/jc28020601.pdf)
