how is this different from the apex of the heart (apex cordis)? E.g.

Seem to suggest left ventricle.

SNOMED has apices for L+R ventricles.

Either way it seems the apex is usually the ventricle rather than any other region of the heart, at least according to easily searchable web resources and ontologies/terminologies.

Agree with Chris that we need to make this more clear. Met with Paul Schofield this morning while he is visiting Plan is to go through a set of terms, including this one, later in the week.
