Preferred term label 2: myotendinous junction of the calcaneal tendon
Synonyms 2:
myotendinous junction of the Achilles tendon MTJ of the Achilles tendon MTJ of the calcaneal tendon
Definition (free text, please give PubMed ID) 2: The MTJ is a specialized anatomical region that connects skeletal muscle to tendon. PMID: 23738275
The MTJ has a distinctive form with the muscle membrane having many infolds which the collagen fibrils from the tendon join with. This unique structure creates an increased area for force transmission between muscle and tendon resulting in better force dispersal and less focal stress. Physiopedia
Parent term 2: (use https://www.ebi.ac.uk/ols/ontologies/uberon)
The MTJ is part of both tendon and muscle so it should be associated with both.

@emquardokus @uberon Who should I be following up with in regards to the tendon terms here and in the 4 related tendon tickets.
This issue has not seen any activity in the past 6 months; it will be closed automatically one year from now if no action is taken.
Comment: A tendon cell atlas group is creating single cell atlases for multiple tendons (calcaneal tendon (Achilles) UBERON:0003701, tendon of semitendinosus/hamstring tendon UBERON:8480009, tendon of quadriceps femoris UBERON:0014848, tendon of supraspinatus NTR, tendon of gluteus medius NTR, tendon of long head of the biceps brachii NTR. I've created NTRs for 3 tendons not currently present in uberon.
They additionally would like terms for the tendon microanatomy they are dissecting. The 2 microanatomical structures are both in the myotendinous junction unit - the enthesis and the myotendinous junction.
enthesis UBERON:0035845 is already present as a general term under both musculoskeletal system UBERON:0002204 and connective tissue UBERON:0002384. Myotendinous junction (MTJ) does not have a term. I did tentatively make a ntr ticket for MTJ specifically for the tendon of the semitendinosus NTR, but didn't follow through because the researchers didn't confirm with me.
They are now requesting we terms for:
myotendinous junction of the semitendinosus tendon old NTR myotendinous junction of the Achilles/calcaneal tendon enthesis of supraspinatus tendon enthesis of the Achilles/calcineal tendon enthesis of the gluteus medius tendon

Question Is it appropriate to request additional terms for association of enthesis and MtJ for specific tendon/muscle pairs?
