revise subclass relationship: strand of hair vs hair shaft #3308

Uberon term strand of hair UBERON:0001037 A filament, mostly protein, that grows from follicles found in the dermis[WP]. hair shaft UBERON:0002074 The main part of the hair which is composed of trichocytes and is divided into the cortex and medulla.

Suggested revision and reasons problems noted with solutions proposed 1) There seems to be a mistake in the relationships for how strand of hair and hair shaft are related to each other and defined. hair shaft UBERON:0002074 The main part of the hair which is composed of trichocytes and is divided into the cortex and medulla. is currently part of strand of hair UBERON:0001037 A filament, mostly protein, that grows from follicles found in the dermis[WP]. strand of hair should show develops from hair shaft hair shaft should NOT be part of strand of hair

2) strand of hair has the a picture which is depicting the hair shaft rather than "strand of hair"--- this picture should be removed from here and put into the hair shaft entry. I see that this is most likely because the Wikipedia entry for hair has this same picture along with other pictures.

3) hair shaft should have these 3 structures as part of relationships: it currently only has cuticle and cortext cuticle of hair | UBERON:0002076 cortex of hair | UBERON:0002077 hair medulla | UBERON:0005184

4) strand of hair should be develops from hair shaft since the cells in the hair shaft produce the keratin that forms the strand of hair.

5) strand of hair should have as a synonum "filament of hair", "hair filament" but is not the same as hair shaft What is filament hair? I think Uberon follows the view that a strand of hair is formed by the hair root and the hair shaft (visible part). https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK546248/ However, I could not find the developmental process from a hair shaft to a strand of hair. During catagen and telogen, dead hair shafts are called club hairs, but they are not the strand of hair, and they will contribute to the density of the coat while the new hair emerges. I agree, there should be a new term for hair medulla.
