@rsaim - This is a list of the projects and associated datasets that will be needed for different members of the group.

Projects:

  1. Estimating surface and sub-surface non-observable kinematic properties (strain, vorticity, vertical velocity etc) from observable surface fields (sea surface height, sea surface temperature etc.). This is an extension of @qyxiao PhD work.
  2. Lagrangian filtering of surface velocity fields. This is an extension of @cspencerjones recent paper, and potentially relevant for a submitted proposal by spence and @dhruvbalwada.
  3. Quantifying scale dependence of air-sea fluxes. This is an extension of some work that @paigem and @jbusecke have been working on.
  4. Machine learning sub-grid momentum and tracer fluxes from high resolution models. This will be relevant to work that @dhruvbalwada is doing as part of m2lines, and might be relevant to the broader team.

Datasets to be transferred:

I feel like we should also tag @TomNicholas, @paigem and @jbusecke here. This is a great start, but it would help to be more specific about which variables. e.g. What kind of surface heat flux? oceQnet, oceQsw. Do people need FW flux too?

@rsaim a full list of LLC4320 variables on the supercomputer is here: https://data.nas.nasa.gov/ecco/data.php?dir=/eccodata/llc_4320/compressed/0000010368 and you can also download individual files here (though download is a bit unreliable).

I have a separate need to cut out data in a particular lat/lon region and keep it on Pleiades, but I will make a separate issue for that sometime next week.
