This is my first attempt at doing this. Right now I have plotted ql
: the small-scale relative difference (averaged over 20 years) and histograms averaged over 4 latitudinal bands: 30 to 60, 0 to 30, -30 to 0 and -60 to -30 degrees. I will continue to iterate here, but wanted to share my progress so far.
Note: the y-axes of the histograms are on a log scale
@jbusecke also mentioned in this comment that we could also do this as a sort of heat map, but I haven't thought as much about that method of visualization.
Caveat: I believe that I have plotted (but will verify tomorrow) the small-scale differences here by taking the difference of full-large-scale (and then scaled as a percentage), and then averaged over time. This map looks noticeably different than in #32. Again, I'll look more at this tomorrow, but wanted to share what I have done so far on this.
Create histograms of the relative effect of small scales, similar to what is done in #34 but retaining latitude info.
This was based on discussions on Friday, Sep. 30th (notes here).
