Add mailing list to Contact Us #255

Closed abkfenris closed 1 year ago

abkfenris commented 1 year ago

Adds a Hubspot form to the Contact Us page, so folks can sign up for our mailing list/get added to Hubspot.

Also changes the email icon in the header to go to the contact us page, so we can try to get more folks to the signup form, rather than just emailing the general inbox.

The GDPR/privacy boilerplate ends up taking up a good bit of the page, but should help keep us out of trouble.

And we send an email from info@ which should help train folks spam filters:

Having that email announcements / mailing list is great -- thanks!

Regarding the GDPR/privacy boilerplate: are we able to edit the text, or is that out of our hands? The language about "products and services" is very awkward, IMHO; it makes us sound more like a commercial entity.

In the message after submitting the registration for the mailing list, change "here" to "hear".

In the screenshot after "And we send an email from info@ which should help train folks spam filters:", is it possible to remove the physical address listed after "OceanHackWeek"? I hope so, but I'm assuming it's a template we can't change. It's awkward to have the UW-APL physical address (or really, any physical address!) shown there.

I added a couple of small inline edit suggestions. See what you think.

Thanks!

It looks like we can tweak some of the GDPR text here: https://app.hubspot.com/settings/23784201/data-privacy/consent-options I didn't find that while creating it.

I couldn't get it to not include a footer, and it's pretty structured as to what goes into it: https://app.hubspot.com/settings/23784201/marketing/email/configuration/footer

Great! I've edited the "Consent to communicate" paragraph to replace the "products and services" bit (and related text) with something more appropriate. See what you think. Though, since that text is external to this PR, I think we can merge this PR even if we decide to massage that HubSpot text further.

I figured. I removed the zip code just now, since it's not required (and as a test). Maybe our address should be 1 OceanHackWeek Plaza :stuck_out_tongue:
