[1.12] Round logs don't always show up #186

I'm expecting questions to clarify this because I'm not sure what could cause it. No crash, just incorrect behavior.

I have 2 modpacks, both have Better Foliage, Optifine, Foamfix, BetterFPS and the same version of Biomes O'Plenty in them. I've set the distance for Round Logs to 100 blocks in both.

In the first pack which I've played for a while now, roung logs always display perfectly, regardless of FPS, biome, entities present, etc.

In the second, they really don't. It seems entirely random whether they do or not. Vanilla trees, modded trees etc. they're all affected, just not always affected (it's random which ones seem to show up as squares or not). Logs display as squares even if my FPS hovers over 50. One tree will display with round logs, the next 2 close to it won't, if I wait a while and walk around the same tree might start displaying after a while, or not... just very random.

I don't know what other information to provide, other than the second pack where logs don't always show up has Natura, Mekanism and TC in it, while the first one (which works) has Thaumcraft and Harvestcraft instead...

Is anyone aware of bad interactions between BetterFoliage and other mods somehow?

This is in a forest, all trees in front of me are made with Minecraft spruce logs and leaves. One on the front left is displaying correctly, the others at extreme left, center and right are square.

So this might be a bit old, but I've noticed this happens when your render distance is higher than the max distance set for any of the effects. Extra Leaves, Round Logs, Extra Grass, etc all seem to not gain leaves when entering max distance if they were already rendered without them.

It would be great if this could be fixed, since I don't much care if the trees 500 blocks away have extra leaves or are round & setting range to 100-200 is much better performance, but with a render distance of 10 I have to set the range that high or no trees outside my initial location will ever have them. :(
