Digest issues #3 and #4 #5

Hi @melisacbl, @maurolepore and @odealab,

This is a digest of the discussion we had over last week.

The book we want to build, named coralbook, can be built, shared and cited using a system with three components: 1) github, 2) bookdown and 3) figshare . This system seems very suited for the coralbook.

1) A repository on github; It contains the source files to build and compile the book. https://github.com/odealab/coralbook

2) A site in bookdown.org; It hosts the (compiled) online version of the book can allow downloading .pdf and epub versions. https://bookdown.org/odealab/coralbook

3) A figshare item; It provides a DOI. It can be a single file (e.g. a .pdf version of the coralbook) or a folder with multiple files (downloadable as a zip file). We reserved a DOI but it is not active because the figshare item remains with status unpublished (not public). While unpublished, the figshare item can be shared (including with those without an account on figshare) using a private link; For example: figshare.com/s/f2ea26c8f6e793e091b4

Each of the three products listed above is owned by an account administered by the odealab; Melisa (melisacbl) and Mauro (maurolepore) are collaborators with full privileges to make changes.
