sopcast player 0.4.1 checkinstall fail to make deb cause syntax error in BuildRequires

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Make and checkinstall from 0.4.1 source

2.Checkinstall: Syntax error in  /var/tmp/tmp.rBMd7NnW0K/package/DEBIAN/control 
line 8 python..

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect makeing & installation of .deb. Construction of .deb file failed

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
sopcast player 0.4.1, Debian testing amd64, checkinstall 1.6.2-1

Please provide any additional information below.
This is the error in the tmp file above: ( i see this code in 
sopcast-player.spec and in my checkinstall property lines)

Requires:      python >= 2.4.3 vlc >= 0.9.4 vlc-devel >= 0.9.4 sp-auth >= 3.0.1 
hicolor-hicon-theme pygtk2-libglade  

In sopcast-player.spec i see old Version:       0.3.3  instead of 0.4.1

I solved deleting Requires line during checkinstall editing and the 
installation work, sopcast after that work fine.

Same error in Debian wheezy with sopcast-player 0.50
In Checkinstall i deleted Requires line to work (consequently in Synaptic not 
have requires data).
