- I haven't deleted master yet, instead renaming to _old - however it looks fine
- github has a native ability to rename a branch -- this may be easier

The instructions refer to 'origin' - but when working in a fork/pull model, you will need to do this BOTH on 'origin' (your own fork) as well as 'remote' (the upstream git repo) as admin.
CHange complete, main looks good.
New repos are using 'main', and this is the right thing to do.
