Location of seminar series #9

I'm thinking about the location for the seminar series. Step 1 is to decide if it should be online only, mixed mode or in person only. What are your thoughts @Lukah0173?

Just do document this, it feel like there are benefits to the network effect of having is online only.

I agree with the benefits to both approaches. I'd also be keen to consider some physical locations:

Google has mentioned they'll have a lecture theatre at Lot Fourteen with specialised VC and streaming capabilities that we could use. I'll keep updating with progress from my end.

Ah, I meant there are network advantages to in person only in https://github.com/ofchurches/HARC_Development/issues/9#issuecomment-756557844. As in, the total opposite of what I wrote! Because people will mingle and chat etc.

Anyway, yes, lets go for a walk around on Friday if you're free? I think there are sort of categories and pros and cons:

Minister's Board Room SA Health Nice view, sounds prestigious, central location, easy for Hindmarsh square workers Too easy for Hindmarsh square workers, too owned by "Central"
OCMIO Boardroom (Level 4 East, 50 Grenfell St) SA Health Central location, easy for Hindmarsh square workers Too owned by clinicians
Level 4 Board Room SAHMRI Neutral ground Not many of the people we want to come actually work there, hard to find the first time
One of the ground floor meeting rooms Lot Fourteen Cool, linked to the new Google people and to AIML A bit out of the way
Mural room or boardroom Lot Fourteen Cool, linked to the new Google people and to AIML Multiple security layers
Any number of meeting rooms University of Adelaide or UniSA City East or West Neutral Makes it sound like we're going back to school

Perhaps we should really have a list of desirable characteristics?

  1. East to get to
    • The building should have parking and transport options
    • The room should not have too much security

Might just note here the vibe from the Fellows meeting on 27 Feb was that the SAHMRI boardroom would be the best place.

I've made a tentative booking for the 2nd Tuesday of every month in the SAHMRI boardroom.
