Trapezoidal shape doesn't show up in the layout correctly. #10

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create a trapezoidal shape. (Two parallel lines connected by 45 degree
angles)
2. Extrude the shape.
3. Run the cut list.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected to see a cutlist with the item in it. Instead the cutlist's layout
is undecipherable.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
4.1.5, Vista

Please provide any additional information below.

Hi Todd.
The cutlist plugin works from Sketchup's 'bounding box'. This is the blue box
that outlines the component when you click on it. The bounding box is the
smallest box which can be created which completely encompasses the component.
It's always a 3 dimensional straight sided box, regardless of the shape of the
component inside of it.

When you produce the cutting list, the dimensions given there are the
dimensions of the bounding box. When you produce a layout, it is the bounding
box dimensions which gets laid out on the material you select.

Given this information, are you saying that the bounding box dimensions are not
what you expect or were you expecting the trapezoidal shape to show up in the
layout?

I understand that the layout will be in rectangles, and that's what I
wanted, but that wasn't what I was getting. It's like it cut it into
infinitely small rectangles and they're all smashed into the corner.
The attached file shows what I am seeing.

Ok, that *is* weird!
Inline pics don't seem to come through when responding here but I believe you
can do attachments. Is it possible to attach your model? and then I can
reproduce the issue and find out what is happening.
Thanks...Steve

This image is the result of running cutlist against the attached model on my
computer at home. However, it seems to work properly on my work computer.
Perhaps it's a setting in CutList or SketchUp that differs between the two.
