this is strange, it works fine on all my test installs here ...
what is the full output of
snap version
the client writes its logs to:
~/snap/zoom-client/current/.zoom/logs/
can you attach them here ? (there should be a terminal log for the snap launcher and a "stdout" log for the upstream zoom binary)
also, are there any zoom related apparmor denials in dmesg or journalctl ?
dmesg|grep DENIED
or
journalctl|grep DENIED
I figured it out. I had just run apt update
before I launched Zoom. The update included new NVIDIA drivers. Rebooting solved the issue.
I tried to use the Zoom client today and both latest/stable(5.2.458699.0906) and latest/edge(5.3.465578.0920) fail to start. The application opens and then closes with return code 0. There are no error messages given.
When I run Zoom through strace it appears the confined Snap is preventing Zoom from reading a file that is owned by root.
