Guidelines

We are very excited to meet you at the 2020 OHBM Brainhack 🎉 To submit a project, you need to be an attendee of the 2020 OHBM Brainhack. We ask you to register first over here. Thank you!

We have prepared a checklist to help with your project submission. Here is how to proceed:

Before filling in any part, please submit this issue
Check items in the checklist below as you go through them
Once you are done (at least all 'required' items must be provided), please delete the "Guidelines" section add a comment saying 'hi @ohbm/project-monitors: My project is ready!'

Description: The goal of this project is to create an easy-to-use library for undirected neural networks, including Hopfield networks, Boltzmann machines, and Deep Belief networks. We also want to run empirical studies on the behavior of Hopfield networks, including memory capacity and time until convergence.

Mattermost handle:

Goals for the OHBM Brainhack:

Create more types of undirected neural nets (Boltzmann Machines, Deep Belief networks)
Theoretically connect Hopfield networks to modern deep learning
Run empirical studies using Hopfield network objects to determine their behavior (memory capacity, time until convergence, etc)

Good first issues:

Create Boltzmann machine and Deep Belief network objects based on respective papers
Run an empirical study for the capacity of a Hopfield network using MNIST

Skills:

Python
Reading and translating academic papers into code
Also, someone with great visualization skills to show weight matrices, time until convergence, and other creative ways of visually representing Hopfield networks would be appreciated!

@soniajoseph would you please set up a chat channel (e.g. on mattermost) and a video channel (in a platform of your choice) so that you can easily communicate with the participants, please? Prefixing the channel (at least the chat one) with hbmhack- will facilitate its discoverability. Please post here only the chat channel and mention the video channel in the chat channel. Thanks.

Hello, apologies for the late response. I have been having difficulties creating a Mattermost channel (there is no confirmation email) but will respond as soon as that gets sorted out. ᐧ
