Exploding Brains in Julia #68

Title

Exploding Brains in Julia

Short description and the goals for the OHBM BrainHack

Particle simulations are used to generate visual effects (in movies, games etc...). In this project, I want to explore how we can use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data to generate interesting visual effects by using (2D) particle simulations. My aim is to convert my previous efforts (see 2020 OpenMR Benelux, 2020 OHBM Brainhack) to the Julia programming language. Why Julia? Because Julia offers convenient parallelization methods. This is very important for speeding up particle simulations,

A compilation of my efforts so far can be seen at: https://youtu.be/_5ZDctWv5X4

I am planning to sophisticate the particle simulations and create new animations :)

Hi @ofgulban, have you thought about applying for the brainhack cloud for your project? You could get a vm to run your julia script collaboratively there...

ofgulban commented 2 years ago

Hi @likeajumprope , thanks for highlighting the brainhack cloud. I just did not have time to look into this yet, I will get informed before the event. This could be extremely handy for simulating larger amounts of particles.

likeajumprope commented 2 years ago

Great, let me know if you have any questions - I will also be at the event ;)

Thank you for submitting the project! We have 35 projects right now, woohoo! But that means the projects pitches will have to be short. We will give you tomorrow 2 minutes to pitch your project, you can have one slide or no slides! If you decide to use a slide, please include the link to the slide here.

And don't worry, you will still have more time to talk about your project during the BrainHack :-)

@djarecka thanks, here is my one slide: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1sGADh-oOxEPOsZyFgW9C6jgZ-0qG9VnIIRMNavd7oyo/edit?usp=sharing

@ofgulban I am interested in your work and I am wondering if I can ask some questions during lunch/evenings. Are you available today? My brainhack discord ID is soichih

ofgulban commented 2 years ago

Hi @soichih , of course, sorry I just saw now. My discord name is ofgulban, I will message you
