- Did you build yourself?
- If yes, how did you get the source?
- On which OS?
- How did you get Lazarus and FPC?
- What version of Lazarus and FPC?
- Any messages during the build?

Please provide more info.

Hmm. I see you also build a debugging package. If you install that, does the 
backtrace give more useful information?

Sorry to say, but I assume for the moment that one of the libraries used is the 
source of the problem here. Of course even then it is still useful to figure 
out what goes wrong so that it can be fixed in the right location and we might 
be able to work around it in the mean time.

It looks somewhat similar to our bug 55, which has lots more info in the bug 
tracker of Ubuntu: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/winff/+bug/521818

Could you have a look there and see if this might be related?

Aha, I remember. Please delete the following files before compiling if they are 
there:
*.bak
*.o
*.or
*.ppu
*.res
*.lrs
*.rst
*~
winff
winff.compiled
winff.exe

I think *.lrs does the trick.
