FreedomGPT desktop app contains a crypto mining component that is optional to use to earn FNT (Freedom Network Tokens) which can be freely converted into credits on your FreedomGPT account to spend on AI. Some antivirus will block crypto miners. In my experience with Windows when this happens the app will still run but the crypto mining feature will be non-functional unless you create exceptions and restore it from quarantine or reinstall. I can only guess it will be the same on Mac. Hope that helps.

On my Windows 10 PC, BitDefender blocks the fgptminor.exe file and send it to quarantine and the install of FreedomGPT desktop client fails. If I restore fgptminer.exe from quarantine, the install completes but there is no way to turn off the crypto miner. The addition of the crypto miner must be a recent thing as my previous desktop install was fine with no miner. What is the workaround?

Mining shouldn't operate unless you are signed into your FreedomGPT account. Signed in you should see a section on the left for Edge Network. On the Edge Network screen you should see toggles for Mining Rewards, Inference Rewards, and AutoPilot mode. Turning off AutoPilot Mode typically turns off Rewards automatically, but you can also manually toggle the Mining on or off. Hope that helps. turn off miner
