Diary Entry 1 about 2 weeks about our task was to define our roadmaps for okd builds and future innovation for Diary entry 2 will showcase 2 roadmaps FCOS and SCOS, respectively Fedora CoreOS and Centos OS Stream where fedora is for community innovation and SCOS is for enterprise community innovation
so before news for Diary Enrty 2 this was wht I was learning to make roadmap considerations:
okd centos 9 learn rpm and gpg keys
okd building operators
tekton and open shfit it all bout the pipelines custom okd builds mvp? deployment and testing or hackathon
9_20
Rpm Gpg
Core oslayering Two upgrade pathes for OKD: Fcos What is our protocol
Lastest or one that works Scos
Stackrox.io Openstack Prow UI
So for Diary entry 2, I want know how this will vary into the 2 okd roadmaps of FCOS and SCOS.
Diary Entry 2
got into the following working groups:
FCOS SCOS Tekton I feel ARGO/ARGO CD coming I think stackrox.io is coming also as well as need for a Kubernetes and OC/OCP reference list ( that shows feature milestones across different versions to see what has been depreciated or removed) A GUI/IU interface?
quarterly updates ideal what are our quarters timeframes, when the next deadline? set timeframes for updates / reviews so to go over everything and make sure we miss nothing... looking for volunteer to take this task I am here...
All, I create this to try to formally document a path for new persons wotking on OKD working group so they can intentionally development into an SME of their choosing: https://github.com/users/GeoEducator/projects/1/views/1?visibleFields=%5B15972773%2C%22Title%22%2C%22Assignees%22%2C%22Status%22%5D or https://github.com/GeoEducator?tab=projects
Please advise, testing this on myself...
OKD CoreOS Build Pipeline may need an Operate First orientation or video, On OperateFirst account I saw the UI and instruction look line for CLI
Tekton Operator Build Pipeline-so this can be done OperateFirst as well?
Is the Operate First CLI available, I just get wht UI...
Diary Definition 1 for QSBG: Will use an OKD instance to build a geospatial data lake. Test areas to include: Tecton, FCOS/SCOS build activity, triple 0 links and combinations with Rook and Ceph for edge computing for connections to either Hydrax or ESGF node support for Earth System Grid Federation (all open source projects)
Therefore: must do OKD installs, UPI,IPI, bare metal and across the cloud ecosystem, should work to master pos autoscaling and pod scheduling. Pod scheduling is a constraint satisfaction problem. Target Kubernetes 1.24.6 Also need to install MicroShift, Hypershift and KCP and get some other support done in okd working group...
Using Kind for installs:
OKD Glossary Framework Purpose an Onboarding Activity
The purpose of this glossary framework is the following: Provide a fundamentals set of introductory terms for Kubernetes using a Kubernetes cheat sheet, what is open source & what are containers? To develop a list of necessary processes for SNO, 3 node and multinode installs To get familiar with opinionated Kubernetes, supporting languages, and developments of OpenShift towards Kubernetes build (Advanced) preparation for OKD build sprints, GitOps, CI/CD, golang, yml
Kubernetes cheat sheet with terms. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1am1R9rRIFdUWBWOtrUJkgoFK23--qytXZIpFgc5KrQ0/edit?usp=sharing
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FBqSRTOdDLDiZNJON99m0RHXNWI1HJJy/view?usp=drivesdk
List processes for Kubernetes fundamentals (Set for each newcomer as a crowdsourced activity)
Initial list of OpenShift opinions to be developed as tasks by new OKD pipeline learners.
From Openshift relevant blogs like edge, micro shift, hypershift, Openshift SNO Cloud Ran installs for SNO, 3 node, & multi node
Newcomers are to attempt a mapping from Kubernetes to Openshift opinionated constructs.
Operators Teckton, ArgoCD, OLM
Security RBAC and API gateway
Is this a work in progress? The completed glossary should be published on old.io to help the community find it?
I will publish it there tomorrow and then begin to add to it
